The Doorbell of the Sleeping Forest

Once upon a time, there was a keeper who grew a small forest above his head.

The trees in that forest lived in a certain rhythm.

Some days we rest (resting period), some days we grow (growing period).

But from one year onwards, the forest started acting strangely.

The trees don't seem to think about ending their rest period.

As if to say, “I will not grow anymore.”

The entire forest fell into a long sleep called Telogen Arrest.

The keeper was embarrassed and wiped the leaves to make them shinier,

Expensive oil was applied and the surface was coated.

But the forest didn't move at all.

At that time, at the edge of the forest, next to an old well

A little signal fairy appeared.

“Keeper… the forest does not wake up with the sheen of leaves.

“The forest wakes up when the ‘on signal’ sounds.”

The keeper asked.

“On signal… what is that?”

The fairy said, showing me a little bell.

“The name of this species is Wnt.

When this bell rings at the gate of the forest, the gatekeeper will wake up.”

As the keeper carefully rang the bell—

The receptor on the forest gate vibrated,

A large device that always rang the bell from inside the door came loose.

The device originally served this purpose:

“When the messenger that wakes up the forest (β-catenin) comes in,

“Take it apart and destroy it.”

But when the Wnt paper rang

The disassembly device began to unravel,

The messenger β-catenin survives

It started to pile up more and more inside.

And finally—

β-catenin crossed the forest wall and entered the nucleus (cell nucleus).

There he met the old scribe TCF/LEF

I opened a document.

The title of the document was:

“Grow. Create. Start again.”

At that moment, the sleeping forest slowly took a deep breath.

It has started to move into the growth phase (Anagen).

But the fairy gave this final warning:

“Keeper, the bell rang.

The forest doesn't become dense right away.

The strength and speed of the signal vary from person to person,

There is a time lag between the visible changes.

But there's one thing that's important—

“The fact that the door is open.”

The keeper no longer forcibly wiped the leaves.

Instead, every day in front of the forest gate

The bell rang quietly.
